About The Provider
Nia Jenkins, MD is a board-certified OB/GYN and fellowship-trained female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon (urogynecologist) in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Jenkins was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. She attended the University of Missouri (Mizzou) for her undergraduate studies, and there she developed a love for public health. She went on to complete a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Kansas Medical Center. There she spent a significant amount of time working as a smoking cessation counselor and clinical research coordinator.
From an early age, Dr. Jenkins' passion has been medicine. After completing her professional graduate degree, she enrolled at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. During her medical school tenure she was heavily involved in the volunteer medical clinic and mentoring program, and even served as president of the Student National Medical Association. Dr. Jenkins was presented with the distinguished Edward V. Williams Award at graduation, which recognizes outstanding community service, academic achievement, and commitment to enhancing diversity in the field of medicine.
Dr. Jenkins completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology and her fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) at Louisiana State University (LSU) Health New Orleans. She received numerous teaching and surgical skills awards from both.
Today, Dr. Jenkins remains heavily involved in community outreach activities, mentoring and teaching.
