Brittany Oliver, MD, FAAD

Dr. Oliver is a Board Certified Dermatologist who’s passionate about educating patients on how to best care for their skin. In a medical specialty where physicians of color are extremely underrepresented (the National Institutes of Health reports less than 6% of dermatologists identify as Hispanic, and 5% as African American), Dr. Oliver is proud to have trained under some of the country’s best dermatologists and pioneers in skin of color, and was recently recognized on Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors list.

Dr. Oliver has a special interest in pigmentary disorders, which refers to conditions involving excess melanin pigment deposition in the skin, or “hyperpigmentation” in which skin is abnormally dark. These conditions tend to be more common and more severe in darker skin types. Dr. Oliver explained that historically, conditions that primarily impact people of color were under-researched, and textbook images lacked representation of darker skin, frequently not showing what a skin condition might look like across various skin tones. Luckily, this is changing, and Dr. Oliver wants her patients of color to know significant strides have been made in ensuring all dermatologists are also trained to recognize and diagnose dermatologic conditions in people of color. Dr. Oliver treats patients 12 and older.
