Jaime Bellamy, DO, MS

Dr. Jaime Bellamy is an associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics, where she practices as a dual fellowship-trained arthroplasty and trauma surgeon. She earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Master of Science in biology from Missouri State University before joining the U.S. Army during medical school at Kansas City University.

After completing a transitional internship, she deployed to Iraq as a battalion flight surgeon for an Apache helicopter unit. She then completed an orthopaedic residency at San Antonio Military Medical Center, followed by an arthroplasty fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She practiced for seven years as an arthroplasty surgeon at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Her military service included three years as orthopedic service chief, with deployments to Afghanistan as chief of orthopaedic surgery for a Forward Surgical Team (FST) and to Iraq as chief medical officer for a combat support hospital. After 15 years of active-duty service, she received an honorable discharge as a lieutenant colonel in 2023 and joined the U.S. Army Reserve. In 2024, she completed a trauma fellowship at the University of Missouri in Columbia and deployed to Syria in 2025 in support of a Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment (FRSD).

Dr. Bellamy is the co-founder and immediate past president of Pride Ortho, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for belonging in orthopaedics. She has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters. Her national leadership roles include serving on the AAOS Board of Councilors, the AOA Own the Bone Committee and the OTA Publications Committee. She also served as member-at-large of the AAHKS Board of Directors and associate editor for the Journal of Arthroplasty. She is a fellow of the AOA, AAHKS and AAOS.

She and her wife live on a hobby farm outside Kansas City.
