Mohamed Ahmed, MD

Dr. Ahmed is an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and an attending gastroenterologist at University Health, where he provides comprehensive care for patients with digestive and liver disorders.

He has special clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease and providing comprehensive IBD care to his patients. He is also helping expand advanced endoscopy services by launching the health system's double-balloon enteroscopy program, offering patients a minimally invasive option to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the small intestine that may otherwise be difficult to reach.

Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt before completing his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC). He also holds a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from UMKC and a Master of Science in Hepatology and Tropical Medicine from Alexandria University.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Ahmed has also earned the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESEGH). He is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care while advancing access to innovative gastrointestinal procedures for patients throughout the region.
